Ginza, meaning the “place where silver is minted” got its name when Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa regime, began minting silver coins here at the beginning of the 17th century.
Now this district is known as an upscale area of Tokyo with numerous department stores, boutiques, restaurants and coffeehouses. Ginza is recognized as one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world. Here you can find shops and brands such as Mikimoto, Chanel, Dior, Gucci Louis Vuitton, Apple, Sony, and many others.
