Shirakawago Village is known for preserving the gassho-zukuri houses and is registered as the UNESCO World Heritages! The houses are built using logs as well as ropes without nails. The reason behind this is that the roof could hold the heavy snow in the winter. Such thatched roofs are surprisingly cool in summer and warm in winter! It would be such a memorable experience for you to stay at one of the houses! Note that the Autumn landscape of Shirakawago is just breath-taking, so it may be wise to visit there especially in Autumn!
