What makes Noto peninsula in Ishikawa prefecture so special is the Senmaida, which means one thousand rice paddies. Although it says a thousand, the real paddy fields contain double the amount! It is very traditional in the sense that the paddies are too small for machineries therefore, the farmers must plant and harvest each rice by their own hands. It is recommended to visit the field in October as the whole paddies are lighted with thousand candles, exhibiting a sensational feeling and dazzling atmosphere!
