Yokohama Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in East Asia, where about 600 restaurants and shops reside. All of these were built by the Chinese merchants who came to Japan when the Yokohama port opened in 1859. It is bordered by four different colored Chinese gates (Pairo), that enshrines the god of commerce in each directions. Chinatown is a place that offers a genuine and traditional atmosphere of China while staying in Japan.
