CITY GUIDE: Chiba City (千葉市)


Chiba City (千葉市) is the capital city of Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Chiba is situated at the southeast of the Kanto Plain and close to Tokyo. Many facilities, which represent Japan, can be spotted in the prefecture: The Narita International Airport, the Makuhari Messe, Kazusa Academia Park, Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, and Tokyo Disneyland.

Chiba is famous for the Chiba Urban Monorail, the longest suspended monorail in the world. Some popular places in the city include: Kasori Shell Midden, the largest shell mound in the world, Inage Beach, the first artificial beach in the nation which forms part of the longest artificial beach in Japan, and the Chiba City Zoological Park, known for the presence of Futa.

Chiba offers luxuriant charms of both the sea and the mountains. Chiba is the place for sightseeing and full of historical richness.
